Malcolm McBeath is based in Angus, Scotland, where he has photographed the local landscape and surrounding areas in all seasons and weather for many years. He is self-taught, and has had a passion for photography since he was a child. Taking inspiration from shapes, forms and textures to be found in nature, Malcolm often photographs rocks, sand, water, frost and ice. Abstract patterns he encounters in natural form are beautifully translated into photographic images, and the viewers attention is drawn to the detail in a frost pattern or a thawing leaf with breathtaking precision and dazzling effect. Malcolm has recently been awarded an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society, and has enjoyed success in national competitions. He has also published work in various magazines.
