Judith Bridgland

After studying art, Judith Bridgland travelled to Holland, France and Italy to see and admire the work of Master painters and in doing so, learnt how to look. This experience taught her many valuable things about painting; colour, composition, subject, the paint itself and the quality of the marks made on the canvas. Contrasts are an important element of her work - light and dark, her use of colour, organic and geometric shapes, thin and thick appliance of paint, near and far, flat and 3-dimentional, line and plane, even the shape of the canvas - all these factors are carefully thought out to create vibrant, atmoshperic paintings which speak of Judith herself.
