Based in Manchester, Jen Orpin studied Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University and is now a full-time artist. Working in acrylic, she concentrates on detail in the decay and texture of surfaces. The hard edges of materials such as tile, brick, stone and metal are represented with softened shapes and natural tones, which lend a beauty and subtlety to her work. Jen has developed her own abstract painting style, providing her paintings with a finished, aesthetic look. Her paintings can be interpreted as adaptations of everyday materials and substances which go unnoticed as we walk by, through or under them everyday.
