Heather Whittaker

Since studying Printmaking in Chester, Heather Whittaker subsequently decided to base herself there and has since established her own gallery, where she produces and exhibits her work. Heather finds inspiration in areas of towns and cities which are subject to fly-postering, and is fascinated by the contrasts between the straight-edged shapes of new postings and the torn, weather-beaten remnants of old postings underneath. Heather has always maintained an aesthetic approach to painting, with a strong belief that abstraction is form in itself. As she only requires a basic subject matter to implement her ideas, the finished pieces are not necessarily connected to their origins, but are intended to reflect the way we shape and mark our surroundings in our everyday lives.
